Neurokind Family Support

Holistic and personalised guidance tailored to your neurodivergent family’s needs, energy, and goals

Whether you're a neurodivergent parent or raising neurodivergent kids, daily life can feel like too much. Between managing routines, meal planning, supporting your child's sleep or regulation needs, and finding the right providers — it’s easy to feel stuck in survival mode.

That’s where I come in.

I’m Kara Wilson — a wellbeing support practitioner, certified sleep and family wellbeing specialist, and neurodivergent parent myself. I offer gentle, judgement-free support for overwhelmed families who want real-life solutions tailored to how their brains and bodies work.

Through collaborative consulting and family-focused wellbeing planning, I help you:

  • Set practical, meaningful wellbeing goals (for parents and kids)

  • Create household systems, routines, and meal plans that actually work

  • Navigate and make use of NDIS funding more effectively

  • Link with services, providers, or community supports

  • Reclaim some calm, confidence, and capacity in daily life

This isn’t therapy or traditional support coordination. It’s a softer, more holistic alternative — for families who want someone who gets it, guides gently, and shows up with real-world strategies and care.

Currently available virtually or in-person in select northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Practical life coaching
Learn sustainable, neurodivergent-friendly life skills such as meal planning, daily rhythms, household systems, and mindful tidying — tailored entirely to your strengths and needs.

Family-centred routines and rhythms
Co-create flexible routines that support everyone’s regulation — including sleep, meals, exercise, downtime, and emotional care — without rigid schedules or pressure.

NDIS navigation and wellbeing planning
Use your NDIS plan more effectively. I can help you clarify goals, build capacity, explore funding options (self- or plan-managed), and connect with aligned services or providers.

Sleep and regulation support
Gentle, responsive, trauma-informed guidance to support sleep, nervous system regulation, and family wellbeing. Grounded in connection and co-regulation, not behaviour modification or separation.

Parenting support and strategy
Develop realistic, neurodivergence-affirming parenting strategies that respect your child’s sensory, emotional, and developmental needs (and your own).

Home organisation and systems
I’ll help you design systems for tidying, decluttering, and home flow that match your brain, not work against it. Support can include body doubling or coaching to help you get started.

Emotional and mental wellbeing
Guidance for managing burnout, stress, and dysregulation, with a compassionate, validating approach. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

Note: I don’t provide cleaning services but can help you find the right support in your area.

How I Can Support You

Designed for neurodivergent families
As a neurodivergent parent and professional, I deeply understand the lived experiences, overwhelm, and invisible labour that come with supporting your child while managing your own needs.

Actionable and grounded
This isn’t theory. It’s practical, customisable support to help you feel more in control. One small, realistic step at a time.

Compassionate and collaborative
There’s no pressure to perform, no judgement, and no ‘one size fits all’. We work together to co-create plans that fit your life, values, and energy.

Flexible support (virtual and local)
Available virtually for all families in Australia, and with limited in-home sessions for those in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

Why Choose Neurokind Family Support

Client testimonial:

‘Working with Kara has genuinely changed how manageable my home feels. I came to her overwhelmed and unsure where to start, and together we've worked through several different areas over time.
What sets her apart is how gentle and kind she is about it all. There's no judgement, just genuine warmth, a good laugh along the way, and someone who actually gets it. Decluttering is emotional as much as practical, and Kara helps me make decisions I'd otherwise put off for months, working alongside me the whole way rather than just directing from the sidelines.
I feel lighter now, and more in control of my space and the day to day running of a busy household. I'd recommend Kara to anyone feeling stuck, ND folk who need body doubling support, busy parents short on time or headspace, or anyone going through a big life change where everything suddenly feels like too much’.

Mrs T, Thornbury.

What are my qualifications and experience?

Hi, I’m Kara. I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to Neurokind Family Support. With over 25 years of experience working with families, I have worn many hats: certified family sleep and wellbeing practitioner, career nanny of 20 years, NDIS mental health support worker, and experienced parenting writer and editor.

Throughout the years, I’ve developed practical systems (and lots of hacks!) for organisation and sustainable routines tailored to each family’s unique needs and lifestyle. My approach is realistic, flexible, and deeply personalised.

I hold a degree in psychology and am currently studying a Master of Counselling to deepen my understanding of neurodivergence, child development, and family dynamics. As someone with AuDHD and a parent to highly sensitive, neurodivergent children, I combine my lived experience with professional training to offer compassionate, judgement-free support that truly works for your family.

I know how valuable it is to have someone by your side who gets it—and that’s why I created Neurokind Family Support.

For families who want consistent, compassionate, neuro-affirming guidance and strategy across a range of life areas. My approach is both specialised and generalised.

I bring specialist knowledge of family wellbeing, routines, and neurodivergence, while offering generalised support across all the areas that impact daily life. This means I can adapt to meet your family’s unique needs — whether it’s creating calmer routines, supporting study skills, reducing household overwhelm, or connecting you with the right services.

This is not standard support work. Every session is tailored to strengthen your family’s wellbeing and reduce daily stress.

This may include:

  • Developing and maintaining daily routines that support sleep, school, and family life

  • Hands-on support with decluttering, organisation, or body doubling to reduce overwhelm

  • Helping families connect with and coordinate additional supports and resources

  • Practical guidance for neurodivergent children and parents

The goal is always to create calm, confidence, and sustainable wellbeing for your whole family.

FAQs

Client testimonial

‘Kara has been an absolute gift to our family, and I have no hesitation in recommending her to others. She always knows exactly what needs doing in our home, even during chaotic days when I don't know! Becoming parents is hard enough and when we went through some difficult family times, Kara was a compassionate presence who helped us pick up the pieces and keep everyone fed, clean and mostly sane.  Whether that be vacuuming around our extensive floor-drobe or whipping up blueberry pancakes to feed the ravenous toddler. There is always a need for a set of extra hands and any family would be so lucky to have Kara supporting them’.
